Grant Impact: First Cycle Brings Communication and Support to 6 Local Families

Written By: Mandie Gillmor
Thanks to the generosity of our Yuma community, The Strong Beginnings Project successfully completed its first-ever grant cycle — providing essential tools and support to children with autism and other special needs.
During this cycle, we were able to award:
-
3 communication (AAC) devices to help children find their voices
-
2 therapy grants of $500 each to support ongoing therapeutic services
-
1 sensory grant of $500 for specialized sensory equipment
These grants are already making a meaningful difference in children’s daily lives by helping them communicate, engage, and thrive.
We’re so grateful to every donor, business, and supporter who made this possible. Your contributions directly fuel our mission to help children in Yuma access the care and resources they need.
See the impact in action:
Stay tuned for updates on our next grant cycle and more ways to get involved!
Looking Ahead: Autism Walk 2026
We’re excited to announce that the Autism Walk will take place on April 11, 2026 at Gateway Park! This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, raise awareness, and continue supporting children with autism and other special needs.
If you’d like to become a donor or sponsor for the Autism Walk, we would love to partner with you again to make this event a success. Your support helps us provide even more resources, therapies, and programs for families in Yuma.
Stay tuned for more details, and mark your calendars — we can’t wait to see you there!
