Yuma’s Autism Walk Returns April 12 at Gateway Park to Support Special Needs Families
Free Annual Event Brings Community Together for Awareness, Resources, and Support
YUMA, AZ – Feb. 14, 2025 – Mark your calendars! The Annual Autism Walk, hosted by The Strong Beginnings Project in partnership with Strong Beginnings, LLC, is happening on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Gateway Park at 9:00 AM—and you’re invited!
The Autism Walk is about more than just awareness—it’s about coming together as a community to support and uplift families…”
Since 2017, this inspiring event has brought together families, friends, and community members to show support for children with autism and other special needs. Last year, more than 600 walkers joined in, and we expect an even bigger turnout this year along with partnerships from the Yuma Police Department, notable sponsors like Onvida Health and Jay’s Party Supply, and numerous special needs service providers.
This free, family-friendly event will feature:
- A community 5K walk along the beautiful Gateway Park trail
- Resource booths offering services and support for special needs families
- Food vendors serving up delicious local favorites to purchase
- Fun activities for kids and families
Ways to Get Involved

- Become a Sponsor: Local businesses can show their support through sponsorships.
- Be a Vendor: Organizations offering services for children with special needs are encouraged to set up a booth

“The Autism Walk is about more than just awareness—it’s about coming together as a community to support and uplift families,” said Berenice Diaz, President/CEO of The Strong Beginnings Project. “Whether you have a loved one with autism or just want to show your support, we encourage everyone to participate.”
