Our Mission
The Strong Beginnings Project is proud to launch the Community Closet, a free resource providing clean, comfortable clothing to children and teens across Yuma.
Whether your family is facing hardship, navigating a sudden need, or simply needs a little extra help, our Community Closet is here to ensure every child has access to essentials—at no cost to you!
Your Donations Make A Difference
Why The Closet Exists
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, we received a large influx of high-quality clothing donations for children and teens. The Community Closet was created to ensure these items go directly to the families who need them most. Together, we can help children feel comfortable at school, confident in their clothing, and supported by the community around them.

How It Works
What we offer
Our Community Closet operates by appointment to ensure families have a calm, respectful, and organized “shopping” experience. Each appointment provides time to browse clothing, choose items that fit your child’s needs, and access support from our team if desired.
This resource is free, open to all Yuma children ages 0–18, and not limited to families served by Strong Beginnings.
What to expect
To make sure we can help as many families as possible, each child may select a limited number of clothing items during their appointment, including:
-
Tops
-
Bottoms
-
Seasonal items (e.g., 1 coat per child if available)
-
Additional items as inventory allows
Sizes currently range from:
-
Infant (0 months)
-
Toddler & youth sizes
-
Teen and young women’s adult sizes (for older girls needing larger fits)
Please note: At this time, we are not stocked with men’s or larger teen boy sizes. However, we receive new donations nearly every day. If your child needs a specific size, please call—we may have received it recently.
Who Can Participate
Open to All Yuma Children
The Community Closet is a free community service open to all children and teens ages 0–18 in Yuma County. Although The Strong Beginnings Project primarily serves children with autism and other special needs, this clothing resource is open to everyone—because every child deserves dignity, comfort, and confidence.
